How we handle your data when you use JsonFormatter
Last Updated: February 1, 2026
We take your privacy seriously. This document describes what we collect, how we use it, and how we safeguard it when you use JsonFormatter.
Summary
- Your data stays on your device. JSON, XML, YAML, CSV, and similar content are handled entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to our servers.
- No tracking. We do not use analytics or tracking to monitor your activity.
- No selling of data. We have never sold user information and will not do so.
- Contact submissions are confidential. When you reach out, we use your details solely to reply.
1. Data You Process (JSON, XML, YAML, etc.)
Data you paste or upload into our tools is processed locally in your browser. It does not leave your device and is not transmitted to our infrastructure.
We do not save, store, log, or access any of the data you process with our tools.
The sole exception is the optional "Share" feature on some tools, which creates a temporary link. In that case, data is stored briefly on our servers to support sharing. You are informed before any sharing occurs.
2. Cookies
We do not set analytics or tracking cookies. Any cookies present come from our ad partners (see Advertising below) when ads are displayed.
Cookie Settings
You can revoke consent anytime by clearing cookies in your browser. Most browsers allow blocking third-party cookies. Guides for common browsers:
3. Advertising
To offer JsonFormatter at no cost, we show ads via Google AdSense. These may use cookies to tailor ads based on your browsing.
We do not control ad content (Google handles that), but we configure settings to minimize intrusive or unsuitable ads. For details on Google's use of advertising cookies and to adjust preferences, see Google Ad Settings.
Ad blockers do not affect tool functionality. We welcome ad support but respect your choice either way.
4. Contact Form
When you submit the contact form, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Message content
This information is used only to reply to you. We do not add you to mailing lists, share your email, or use it for marketing. Messages are retained for up to 12 months for follow-ups, then removed.
To request immediate deletion of your contact data, reply to our response and ask us to remove it.
5. Server Logs
Our servers log basic technical data on each visit, such as:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages viewed
- Date and time
- Referrer (if you arrived via a link)
This data is used for security, debugging, and performance monitoring. Logs are automatically removed after 30 days.
6. External Links
We link to external sites (e.g., format documentation). Once you leave our site, we have no control over their data practices. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies.
7. Security
We apply reasonable measures to protect information we collect (e.g., contact submissions). We use HTTPS, secure hosting, and follow standard practices.
No internet transmission is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but since we do not store the data you process in our tools, exposure risk is minimal.
8. Children
Our tools are intended for professional and educational use, not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has shared information with us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. International Visitors
JsonFormatter is operated from the United States. Visitors from other countries should note that information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Use of our tools constitutes consent to this transfer. We comply with applicable laws, including GDPR for users in the European Union.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights such as:
- Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data
- Cookies: Clear or block cookies in your browser
- Portability: Request a portable copy of your data
To exercise these rights, contact us.
11. Policy Updates
We may revise this policy to reflect changes in practice or legal requirements. Significant changes will be noted by updating the "Last Updated" date and, when appropriate, a notice on the site.
We recommend reviewing this policy periodically. Continued use after updates indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact
For questions, concerns, or requests about this policy or our data practices, please get in touch.
In short: JsonFormatter exists to simplify data work. We do not collect or sell personal data. We avoid analytics and tracking, and we keep what we do handle as private and secure as we can. If you have concerns, reach out—we respond and take them seriously.
