We take your privacy seriously. This document describes what we collect, how we use it, and how we safeguard it when you use JsonFormatter. The short version: we do not store any data you process in our tools — everything stays in your browser.

Summary

We do not store any data you process in our tools. JSON, XML, YAML, CSV, and all other content you paste or upload is handled entirely in your browser and never sent to our servers. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity solely for understanding site traffic and improving usability — neither tool receives your tool payload data. We have never sold user information and will not do so. When you contact us, we use your details only to respond.

1. Data You Process (JSON, XML, YAML, etc.)

We do not store any data you process in our tools. Data you paste or upload is processed entirely in your browser — it never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers. We have no access to the content you format, validate, convert, or otherwise process.

The only exception is optional features that explicitly require server-side storage (for example, temporary share links, if available). In those cases, you are clearly informed before any data is transmitted, and data is stored only as long as needed to provide the feature.

2. Cookies

We and our partners may use cookies for analytics, service improvement, and advertising. This includes cookies used by Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Google AdSense.

You can revoke consent or manage cookie usage by clearing or blocking cookies in your browser. For guidance, see Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.

3. Analytics & Session Insights (Google Analytics & Microsoft Clarity)

We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site — including page views, navigation patterns, performance, and UX friction points. These tools may collect technical metadata such as page URLs, browser and device information, approximate location, referrer, and interaction events. Neither tool receives the content you process in our formatter or converter tools.

Google Analytics helps us understand traffic sources and overall site usage. Microsoft Clarity provides session recordings and heatmaps to help us identify usability issues. Both tools are used solely for product improvement, troubleshooting, and reliability monitoring. We do not use them for advertising targeting.

4. Advertising

To keep JsonFormatter free, we display ads via Google AdSense. Ad technologies may use cookies to personalize ads based on browsing behavior. We do not control ad content directly. For details and controls, see Google Ad Settings.

5. Contact

When you contact us by email, we collect your name, email address, and message content. We use this only to respond. We do not add you to marketing lists or sell your contact information. Messages are retained for up to 12 months for follow-up, then deleted.

6. Server Logs

Our servers may log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type/version, visited pages, date/time, and referrer. Logs are used for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and performance monitoring, and are automatically deleted after 30 days.

7. External Links

Our website links to third-party resources. Once you leave our site, we are not responsible for external privacy practices. Review their policies before sharing information.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards including HTTPS and secure hosting practices. No internet transmission is perfectly secure, but we minimize exposure by processing tool payload data locally where possible.

9. Children

Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will remove it.

10. International Visitors

JsonFormatter is operated from the United States. By using the service, you understand information may be processed in the U.S. We aim to comply with applicable laws, including GDPR where relevant.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correction, deletion, and portability of personal data we hold. You may also manage cookie and analytics preferences in your browser or via provider opt-out tools. To submit a request, contact us.

12. Policy Updates

We may update this policy to reflect operational or legal changes. Material updates will be reflected by revising the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, posting a notice.

13. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, please contact us.

In short: JsonFormatter does not store any data you process in our tools — everything runs in your browser. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand site usage and improve the product, and Google AdSense to support free access. We never sell personal data.
